I haven’t blogged in a while, as winter time in New York is typically a slow time for us photographers. It is too cold outside to do family sessions, and people are too busy with holidays and just more comfortable staying at home and cuddling with their kids. For me, I still stay busy capturing working as an event photographer, helping my clients capture birthdays and other celebratory events. Although I love capturing these special times for families, I don’t blog those sessions. Which I should and will soon.
So I was delighted when Anu contacted me to photograph her family in her Manhattan home. This was a session mostly for her parents, the grandparents that came to visit Anya their granddaughter. As always my goal in any at-home sessions is to capture the love and connection between the child and the parents, and in this case the grandparents as well.
Anya was as sweet as can be chewing on anything she can find and looking at the camera with her big brown eyes. The kids at this stage are always so fascinated with my camera, as they are not shy yet and not used to this big thing being in front of their faces. Eight months is such a sweet age, as the child is already sitting, smiling, laughing and being so interested in what is happening around them.
What I remember the most about this session is how Anya would take anything that was in front of her and would just put it in her mouth to chew, as this is the stage for most kids when their teeth are starting to come out. Of course, she also loved cuddling with her parents, riding her mamas' legs and being loved on by her grandparents.
