One of the things I love most is to look at photos of my family, I have one of the worst memories and looking at photos of my sons childhood or my teen years takes me back right to those moments. I treasure those photo albums as if they were gold!
What about you? Do you have family photo albums that your kids and you like to look through? Do you have lots of photos of your childhood with your parents? Do you take a lot of photos of your family today? And the most important question is, are you in those photos?
It’s easy to be the family photographer for us moms. Chasing our kids trying to get the photos of them, but when your kids are grown will they see you in family albums? Would they ask you where are the photos of the whole family?
So let’s talk about family sessions, why you should book one, and most importantly how to plan an experience that you and your family will enjoy!
WHAT IS THE BEST LOCATION FOR A FAMILY SESSION:
That totally depends on you! I want your photo session be special to you and your family! Does you family live by Central Park and go there often? Do you hang out in Brooklyn Bridge Park or Prospect Park? Do you love your neighborhood and it’s playground? I always recommend to my clients to choose locations that are meaningful to them.
WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?
Let’s stay away from marching outfits! Batman and Frozen logos!
Matching outfits are boring and lack personality. And as much as I love letting kids show of who they are, let’s not do it with logo or character shirts. They will not make great photo so!
WHAT’S THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO BOOK A NEW YORK FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?
The best time is whenever you’re ready! Most families make fall time as their favorite month for photos as the holiday card season coming up. However, any time, any season is great to capture the love and connection between your family!

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY KIDS MISBEHAVE DURING THE SESSION?
All kids are different and I approach my sessions that way. My sessions are based on play and having fun with their parents and siblings. I give them space and move on if they are cranky, and once they settle down we can move forward.
POSED VS CANDID PHOTOGRAPHS, WHAT KIND OF IMAGES WOULD I GET?
My style is a combination of both. I want to make sure your gallery will have organic moments that you will remember forever, and also the classic images of your whole family looking at the camera (I know those are the images grandparents love)
