Brooklyn Newborn Sessions with ALimeGreenDream Photography

If you’re a new parent, it can be hard to search and figure out which photographer is the right one for you. Every Brooklyn based newborn photographer seems to offer different price points and styles of newborn sessions. How can you tell which newborn photographer is the right fit for your family? That’s a decision you and your partner have to make for yourself, but in the meantime, I can tell you what newborn sessions with me are like!
During my baby led lifestyle newborn photo sessions, I focus on these main combinations:
Simple portraits of your baby
Family portraits focusing on connection
Pet/sibling images
Detail shots
Mom/Dad alone with the baby
Let’s chat about each one of these categories!
Baby Portraits
This is one of the most important for the new parents. There are two types of newborn photography: lifestyle and posed. Posed photography is typically done in a studio with props, backgrounds, accessories and complicated posing. Posed newborn photographers go through training and are proficient in specific posing and wrapping techniques. If that is the style that you are seeking - I am not a photographer for you.
I photograph my newborns in the comfort of your home and I am not trained in the art of wrapping or intricate poses. My style of photography is called lifestyle newborn. My sessions are lightly posed and guided and focuses on simple and natural poses of your new baby. They may be awake or asleep and I typically use your bed or crib as a backdrop.
Connection Based Family Portraits
I focus on images that evoke emotion. The joy in your face when you look at your baby and the way your toddler interacts with their new baby brother or sister. The way you cradled your baby in your arms. Most of the session is spend you looking at your partner or your baby.
Pet & Sibling Images
Images of your new baby with their big sibling or your fur babies. However, you will not find us going crazy to get the toddler to sit perfectly still and smile at me while holding their sibling. I seek images that show reality and truth whether they want to hold their siblings or just stand next to them. Same goes for the fur-siblings. Some pets are well trained to sit still next to your babies while others are freaked out by the newest member of the family.
Detail Shots
Close up images of your baby and their features. If they are sleepy this can happen while they’re laying down for their solo portraits or in parents arms.
Mom & Dad With The Baby
A lot of our time together is capturing the love and connection between mom and dad with their new baby. Cradling, feeding, holding and nursing. I want to make sure you remember what it was like to hold and look at that tiny new baby of yours.
