Having a newborn session is something that is very special for families. Newborns change so quickly that you may be wondering when is the best time to schedule your newborn photoshoot.
Let’s answer some common questions regarding a newborn session with me.
How Old Does My Baby Need To Be For Their Newborn Photoshoot?
Photographers that have a posed style (i.e. Baskets, blankets, intricate posing) want to have the photos taken in the first ten days of baby life, as they need that sleepy baby to hush them to positions.
I am NOT one of those photographers.
My Lifestyle Newborn Sessions are completely baby led - which means the baby doesn’t need to be sleepy for their photos. I take the lead of the baby during our sessions -if they are sleepy I’ll capture them that way, if they have their eyes open that’s how they’ll be. If they are crying and need to be held, or if they need to be changed, I take their lead.
Babies are perfect just they way they are and I am happy to do the newborn style photoshoot at any time and age. That being said, they do change every quick therefore I do recommend trying to get the photoshoot scheduled as soon as you are ready and before the baby is three months old, just to capture that newborn sweetness.
When Should I Schedule My Newborn Photoshoot?
Most expecting parents contact me while they are still pregnant. I take a small deposit and put your due date on my calendar or wait for you to contact me once you are ready for me to come by your house.
However, it’s never too late to reach out. So, if you decide last minute, even weeks after your baby is already born, simplyCONTACT me and I’ll find a date/time that works for us both.
Btw, the baby in this post was 6 weeks old, just like his brother who I’ve had the pleasure photographing a couple of years back. So, when the mom contacted me for her second son photoshoot she specifically requested 6 week mark so both shoots would be similar.
I can’t wait to capture your family during this special time in your life.
