Questions You Might Have Before Your NYC At-Home Photo Session
These are the worries you might have prior to hiring me for your in-home family session
As a New York City photographer I can understand what holds you back from booking an in-home family session. I get it, and I am prepared to work in all kinds of environments. That is my job as a professional photographer to come to your home and be prepared for anything. I want you to relax and enjoy your session and leave the work to me!
1. Our appartment is too small. I don’t think we have enough room for a photo session.
Your home doesn’t have to be huge! We just need a few areas with good light. I’ve photographed sessions in tiny Manhattan apartments and large homes of Brooklyn. It is my job to find the right space in your home for your photos to feel authentic to your family.
2. Our home is not nicely decorated- I feel like it’ll look bad on pictures.
Your home doesn’t need to look like something out of Architectural Digest. Actually I have never photographed in a professionally styled home. Most NYC homes are rentals and because of that many are not able to do anything elaborate like even paint the way they want. It is not a big deal! I want your photos to reflect who you are as a family, including your child’s drawings on the wall or your wedding photo frames in the background. I promise you I’ll find the best spots and you will love your final images.
3. My house is too dark.
You don’t need huge windows or glass doors. I will find the light or incorporate flash for your photo session. I will have you open all the blinds and curtains and if that doesn’t work, I bring flash with me to all my sessions and will work around even the darkest basement apartments.
4. My house is a mess!?!
Trust me, you don’t have to hire a cleaning person for your session. Just a l little tiding up will do. And we can always move things around if they are distracting. Believe me when I say, you don’t see what is on the side of the photo (toys, cords, laundry..you name it) it is just out of the shot!
